Salary Details
- Consolidated monthly pay: Basic Rs. 19,900/- + applicable DA (approx. Rs. 30,845/- subject to conditions).
- HRA payable if quarters are not provided; quarters, if allotted, must be vacated on 1st Jan and 1st July; license fee as applicable to regular workmen.
- Annual increase of 3% on Basic Pay during tenure, subject to satisfactory performance and extension.
- EPF as per Act and guidelines.
- Covered under The Employees’ Compensation Act, 1923.
- Company holidays at par with regular employees.
- 1/30th of pay per 8-hour day for all purposes; proportionate deductions for unauthorized leave.
Educational Qualification
- Common note: Degree/Diploma in Engineering will not be accepted as basic qualification.
- All posts (except as noted):
- Matriculation (10th) and
- NCTVT/NCVT certificate: NAC/NTC in relevant trade; failing which ITI or equivalent Diploma/Certificate.
- Equivalent/Identical trades: Electronics and Electronics Mechanic eligible for Fitter (Electronics); Maintenance Mechanic eligible for Millwright.
- Welder:
- 8th or 10th pass and
- NCTVT in Welder; failing which ITI or equivalent Diploma/Certificate.
- Examiner:
- Matriculation and
- NCTVT in Fitter/Machinist/Turner/Grinder; failing which ITI or equivalent Diploma/Certificate.
- Chemical Process Worker:
- Matriculation and
- NCTVT in Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant); failing which ITI or equivalent Diploma/Certificate.
- OMHE (Operator Material Handling Equipment):
- Matriculation and
- NCTVT in Crane Operations
- Heavy Vehicle License and knowledge of cranes/forklifts/battery trucks/heavy excavators (e.g., JCB).
Age Limit
- 18 to 35 years as on the last date of receipt of application (General).
- Relaxations:
- SC/ST: 5 years (for posts reserved for SC/ST).
- OBC (NCL): 3 years (for posts reserved for OBC).
- Ex-Servicemen: Period of Military Service + 3 years.
- PwBD: Up to 10 years in respective category as per Government policy.
Selection Process
- Based on marks in NCTVT (NCVT) and Trade/Practical Test only, in order of merit.
- Weightage: NCTVT – 80%; Trade/Practical Test – 20%.
- Cut-off for calling Trade Test decided by OFT based on NCTVT marks.
- Trade Test likely within one month of advertisement closing date.
- Document Verification of qualified candidates in order of merit; number called limited to notified posts (discipline/category-wise); additional candidates may be called if some are rejected.
- Failure in Trade Test results in disqualification.
- Tie-breaking order:
- Ex-Trade Apprentice of OFT,
- Ex-Trade Apprentice of other Ordnance Factories,
- Higher NCTVT marks,
- Older date of birth.

Instructions
- Application fee: Nil.

- Applications received late or not meeting eligibility/terms will be rejected; OFT’s decision is final.
- Police verification and medical fitness are mandatory before joining.
- Engagement is purely contractual; no right to claim regular employment.
- Working hours: As per production schedule (day/night shifts), typically 8 hours/day, 6 days/week (48 hours/week).
- Leave: 12 days paid leave per year (pro-rata; unused leave not carried forward/encashed); generally not more than 5 days leave in a month; excess leave may be treated as LWP with deduction @ 1/30th of consolidated pay.
- Safety gear, PPE, and company norms to be followed; maternity benefits as per Maternity Benefit Act, 1961.
- Not entitled to: Promotions, OT allowance, loans/advances, medical facilities (except emergencies per rules), contingency advance, school fee reimbursement, LTC/LTA, study leave, sponsorship for higher studies, or any other benefits of regular workmen unless specified.
- Contract can be terminated by either party with one month’s notice or payment in lieu; immediate termination for serious misconduct.
- Tenure-based personnel will not work on 1st July and 1st January to ensure govt. policy.
- All disputes subject to Tiruchirappalli jurisdiction.
