Educational Qualification
- Candidates must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) awarded by the National Council for Training and Vocational Trade in any of the following trades:
- Electrician
- Wireman
- Electrical Trade under the Centre of Excellence Scheme
- Note: Candidates with higher qualifications but without the specified NTC/NAC in the mentioned trades are not eligible.

- Age Relaxation: No maximum age limit for candidates from reserved categories (BC, BCM, MBC/DC, SC, SC(A), ST) and Destitute Widows who possess a qualification higher than the minimum general educational qualification (S.S.L.C). Age relaxation is also applicable for Persons with Benchmark Disability, Ex-Servicemen, and apprentices as per government rules.
Selection Process
The selection process for the Field Assistant post consists of multiple stages:
- Written Examination: A single-stage written exam with two papers:
- Paper I: Tamil Eligibility Test, General Studies, Aptitude & Mental Ability.
- Paper II: Subject Paper (Trade: Electrician and Wireman).
- Onscreen Certificate Verification: Candidates will be shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio based on written exam marks for certificate verification.
- Physical Test: Eligible candidates will be called for a Physical Test in a 1:3 ratio. The test includes:
- Pole Climbing and Cross Arm Fixing within 8 minutes.
- Plaiting of rope with an AAAC conductor within 2 minutes.
- Lifting and carrying a 35 kg weight (3 V-Cross Arms) for 100 meters in one minute.
- Physical Certificate Verification: Candidates who pass the Physical Test will be called for final certificate verification.
- Final Selection: Based on the total marks obtained in the written examination and subject to the rule of reservation of appointments.
How to Apply
- Candidates must first register under the One Time Registration (OTR) system on the TNPSC website www.tnpscexams.in. The registration fee is Rs. 150 and is valid for five years.
- After OTR, log in with your User ID and Password.
- Click “Apply” against the Combined Technical Services Examination (ITI Level) – II notification.
- Fill in the application form with accurate details and upload the required documents.
- Pay the examination fee of Rs. 100 online.
- Submit the application form before the last date.
Instructions
- Candidates must ensure they fulfill all eligibility conditions before applying.
- The application correction window will be available from 06.10.2025 to 08.10.2025.
- Appearance in both Paper I and Paper II of the written exam is compulsory.
- Candidates must upload all required certificates (Community, PSTM, Disability, etc.) at the time of application.
