Salary Details
- Deputy Registrar: Pay Level 12 (Rs. 15,600 – 39,100 with Grade Pay of Rs. 7,600 pre-revised).
- Assistant Registrar: Pay Level 11 (Rs. 15,600 – 39,100 with Grade Pay of Rs. 6,600 pre-revised).
- Examiner: Pay Level 7 (Rs. 9,300 – 34,800 with Grade Pay of Rs. 4,600 pre-revised).
Educational Qualification
Deputy Registrar
- Essential:
- Degree in law from a recognized University.
- Ten years of practice at a Bar OR ten years of experience in State Judicial Service or in the legal department of a State/Central Government or in processing applications under the Trade Marks Act or Geographical Indications Act or teaching law.
- OR Master’s Degree in Law with eight years of experience in teaching or research in law.
- Desirable: Ph.D. in Intellectual Property.
Assistant Registrar
- Essential:
- Degree in law from a recognized University.
- Five years of practice at a Bar OR five years of experience in State Judicial Service or in the legal department of a State/Central Government or in processing applications under the Trade Marks Act or Geographical Indications Act or teaching law.
- OR Master’s Degree in Law with three years of experience in teaching or research in law.
- Desirable: Ph.D. in Intellectual Property.
Examiner
- Essential:
- Degree in law from a recognized University.
- Two years of experience in handling court cases and other legal matters or matters relating to Trade Marks or Geographical Indications.
- Desirable: Master’s degree in Intellectual Property.
Age Limit
The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation shall not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
Selection Process
Selection will be made on a deputation basis from eligible officers from Central or State Governments, Union Territories, Universities, Recognized Research Institutions, Public Sector Undertakings, or Semi-Government/Autonomous/Statutory Organisations.

- CR Dossier/attested copies of Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs)/Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs) for the last 5 years.
- Vigilance Clearance Certificate.

Instructions
- The period of deputation will ordinarily not exceed four years for Deputy Registrar and three years for Assistant Registrar & Examiner.
- Departmental officers in the direct line of promotion are not eligible for deputation.
- Officers who volunteer for the post will not be permitted to withdraw their names later.
- The number of vacancies is liable to change.
