Salary Details
The pay scale for Assistant Commandants starts at Pay Level 10, with promotions and pay progressing as per the 7th CPC.
- Assistant Commandant (Pay Level 10): ₹56,100/-
- Other Benefits: Medical cover for self and family, furnished government accommodation, 45 days earned leave, insurance cover of ₹1.25 Crore, National Pension Scheme (NPS), and other allowances as per rules.
Educational Qualification
General Duty (GD):
- Should hold a Graduate Degree from a recognized university.
- Must have studied Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to the Intermediate or class XII level.
- Candidates who completed graduation after a diploma are eligible if the diploma curriculum included Physics and Mathematics.
Technical (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics):
- Should hold an Engineering degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, Automotive, Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication, or other specified equivalent disciplines from a recognized university.
- Must have studied Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to the Intermediate or class XII level.
Age Limit
- Age Range: 21-25 years as of 01 July 2026. Candidates must be born between 01 July 2001 and 30 June 2005 (both dates inclusive).
- Age Relaxation:
- 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
- 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates.
- 5 years for personnel serving in the Coast Guard or equivalent in the Army/Navy/Air Force.
Selection Process
The selection is a five-stage process. Clearing all stages is compulsory.
- Stage-I: Coast Guard Common Admission Test (CGCAT): A computer-based online screening test of 100 multiple-choice questions.
- Stage-II: Preliminary Selection Board (PSB): Conducted at Noida, Goa, Chennai, Kolkata, Shillong/Guwahati, and Gandhinagar. It includes a Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and a Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT).
- Stage-III: Final Selection Board (FSB): A four-to-five-day process at CGSB, Noida, involving a Psychological Test, Group Task, and Interview.
- Stage-IV: Medical Examination: Conducted at Base Hospital, New Delhi for candidates who clear Stage-III.
- Stage-V: Induction: Candidates who clear all stages and are on the merit list will report to the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala for the Naval Orientation Course (NOC).

- Register with a valid email ID and mobile number, which must remain active until 15 Jan 2027.
- Upload scanned copies of required documents, including a recent photograph, signature, date of birth proof, and identity proof.
- Pay the examination fee of ₹300/- online. SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment.
- Candidates are advised to fill their choices for the examination city, with the first choice being within 30 km of their residence.

- Only Indian male citizens are eligible to apply.
- Candidates must ensure they meet all eligibility criteria before applying.
- Candidates withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from other service academies are not eligible.
- The selection process is fair and based on merit only. Candidates should not fall for unscrupulous agents.
