Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess the following qualifications as of 14.10.2025:
- A pass in Higher Secondary School or its equivalent with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
- A two-year Diploma in Teacher Education or a Certificate in Basic Teacher’s Training from an NCTE-recognized institution.
- Must have studied the respective regional language (Tamil/Malayalam) as a subject up to the secondary level or in the D.T.Ed. course.
- Must have qualified in Paper-I of TNTET/KTET/APTET/CTET with the following minimum marks:
- General/EWS: 60%
- OBC/MBC/EBC/BCM: 55%
- SC/ST/BT/PwBD: 50%
Age Limit
Applicants must be between 18 and 32 years of age as of 14.10.2025. Age relaxation is applicable for various categories as follows:

Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be based on a merit list prepared out of 100 marks, with weightage given to:
- Academic Qualification: 70% weightage for marks in Higher Secondary and Diploma in Teacher Education.
- Teacher Eligibility Test (TET): 20% weightage for marks secured in Paper-I of CTET/TNTET/KTET/APTET.
- Employment Exchange Seniority: 10% weightage for seniority of TET Paper-I registration, with 1 mark for each completed year, up to a maximum of 10 marks.
How to Apply
- Online Application: Candidates must apply online through the official portal http://recruitment.py.gov.in. The application window is open from 10:00 AM on 15.09.2025 to 5:45 PM on 14.10.2025.
- Submission of Hard Copy: After submitting the online application, a printout must be taken. This hard copy, along with self-attested photocopies of all required documents, must be sent via “Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due” or submitted in person to “The Director, Directorate of School Education, Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Centenary Educational Complex, 100 Feet Road, Near Indira Gandhi square, Anna Nagar, Puducherry-605005”. The envelope should be superscribed with “APPLICATION FOR RECRUITMENT TO THE POST OF PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER”.
Instructions
- Applicants must be natives of the Union Territory of Puducherry or have been residents for at least five continuous years preceding the date of notification.
- Candidates must ensure they meet all eligibility criteria before applying.
