Salary Details
The posts are classified under Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ services of the Central Government. The salary and pay scale will be as per the rules and allowances applicable to these posts, determined by the Government of India.
Educational Qualification
For admission to the examination, a candidate must have one of the following qualifications:
- A degree in Engineering from a university incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament.
- Passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India).
- Obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from a recognized foreign university/college.
- Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
- Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.
Candidates who have appeared or intend to appear for their final qualifying examination are also eligible to apply, subject to conditions.
Age Limit
- Age: A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years as of January 1, 2026. This means the candidate must have been born not earlier than January 2, 1996, and not later than January 1, 2005.
- Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable for reserved categories as follows:
- Up to 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
- Up to 3 years for OBC candidates.
- Up to 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
- Relaxations are also applicable for Ex-servicemen and certain categories of Central Government employees as per rules.
Selection Process
The examination will be conducted in three stages:
- Stage-I: Preliminary Examination: This stage consists of two objective-type papers for a total of 500 marks. Marks from this stage are counted for the final merit.
- Stage-II: Main Examination: This stage includes two conventional (descriptive) papers in the candidate’s engineering discipline, for a total of 600 marks.
- Stage-III: Personality Test: Candidates who qualify the Main examination will be called for a Personality Test (Interview), which carries 200 marks.
How to Apply
- Candidates must apply online through the UPSC’s new application portal at **https://upsconline.nic.in**.
- Applicants must first create an account and generate a Universal Registration Number (URN). After this, they can fill out the Common Application Form (CAF) and the examination-specific form.
- An application fee of ₹200 is required. Female candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwBD categories are exempted from payment of the fee.
- The fee can be paid online using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card/UPI or by remitting money in any branch of the State Bank of India.
- Candidates should have details of a photo ID card (like Aadhaar, Voter Card, PAN Card) and upload a recent photograph (not more than 10 days old).
Instructions
- Applications must be submitted online only. No other mode is permitted.
- Candidates must ensure their appearance matches their uploaded photograph at all stages of the exam.
- The use of black ballpoint pens is mandatory for marking answers in the OMR sheets for objective papers.
- Mobile phones and other electronic gadgets are strictly banned inside the examination venue.
- Candidates must read the detailed notification on the UPSC website carefully before applying.
