Salary Details
- Assistant Professor: Rs.57,700–1,82,400 in Level 10 as per pay matrix for TN Collegiate Educational Service.
Educational Qualification
- Master’s degree with minimum 55% in relevant/allied subject; 5% relaxation for SC, ST, MBC/DNC, BC, BCM, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, calculated on qualifying marks only without grace.
- NET/UGC-CSIR NET/SLET/SET required; exemption for Ph.D. awarded per UGC Regulations 2009/2016 and amendments; pre-11.07.2009 Ph.D. candidates exempt if specific conditions (regular mode, two external evaluations, open viva, two publications with at least one refereed, two conference papers) certified by Registrar/Dean are met.
- Alternative: Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked within global top 500 by QS/THE/ARWU at any time.
- Special Recruitment (Presidency College, HI): In addition, RCI-approved Senior Diploma in Teaching the Deaf or Special B.Ed. (Hearing Impairment) required.
- Adequate knowledge of Tamil: those without Tamil must pass the TNPSC Special Language Test (Higher Standard) within two years from appointment.
Age Limit
- Not completed 57 years as on 01.07.2025; candidates who applied under 12/2019 or 02/2024 receive age relaxation per G.O.(Ms) No.231 (06.10.2025).
Selection Process
- Written examination and interview; written exam carries 200 marks plus 30 marks for experience/interview split, with qualifying Compulsory Tamil Part-A and discipline-focused sections; minimum qualifying marks of 40% for General and 35% for Others in written only; interview 15 marks with defined rubric; experience weightage up to 15 marks, subject to W.A.(MD) No.507 of 2025 outcome.
- Candidates shortlisted for interview based on written and weightage, following merit-cum-communal rotation; final merit list based on written, weightage, and interview; results and selections published on TRB website.
