Salary Details
Monthly Stipend: Rs. 9,600 to Rs. 10,560 per month
Stipend is admissible as per Section 13 of ‘The Apprentices Act 1961’, ‘The Apprenticeship Rules 1992’, ‘The Apprenticeship (Amendment) Rules 2019’, and MSDE Office Memorandum dated 15 Sep 2025 and 23 Sep 2025.

Age Limit
- For Non-Hazardous Trades: Candidates born on or before 02 May 2012 (Minimum age: 14 years)
- For Hazardous Trades: Candidates born on or before 02 May 2008 (Minimum age: 18 years)
- Maximum Age: No upper age restriction as per Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) office memorandum
Physical Standards: Candidates must satisfy minimum physical fitness standards as specified in Rule 4 of ‘The Apprenticeship Rules 1992’.
Selection Process
1. Shortlisting of Candidates for Written Exam
- Candidates will be shortlisted based on marks obtained in SSC/Matriculation and ITI in a ratio of 70:30
- Hall tickets will be sent to shortlisted candidates in the ratio of 1:5 against existing vacancies (maintaining reservation quota)
2. Written Examination
- Format: OMR-based (Multiple Choice Questions)
- Total Questions: 100 questions
- Duration: 2 hours
- Subject Wise Distribution:
- Mathematics: 35 questions
- General Science: 35 questions
- General Knowledge: 30 questions
- Marks: 1 mark per question (Total: 100 marks)
- Language: English
- Negative Marking: No negative marking for wrong answers

3. Final Merit List
- Merit list will be prepared trade and category-wise based on written examination marks
- Tie-Breaker Criteria: Date of birth (elder to younger) followed by name in alphabetical order
4. Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates must produce original certificates:
- SSC/Matriculation marks certificate
- ITI marks certificate
- Aadhar Card
- Caste certificate (SC/ST) or OBC certificate (if applicable)

5. Medical Examination
- Every selected candidate will undergo medical examination as per guidelines

- Click on “Register” module and select “Candidate” from dropdown menu
- Fill all basic details (name, DOB, valid email, mobile number)
- Submit and activate profile through email confirmation
Step 2: Complete Online Profile
- Login with registered email ID and password
- Enter educational details, contact address, trade preference
- Upload Aadhar, PAN & bank account details
- Select community category
- Upload all supporting documents
- Validate Aadhar number to complete 100% profile completion
Step 3: Apply for Trade
- Click on “Apprenticeship Opportunities” on homepage
- Click on “Search by Establishment Name”
- Enter “NAVAL DOCKYARD” (Establishment ID: E08152800002) in capital letters
- Select Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam
- Select your desired trade and click “Apply”
- Follow portal guidelines for final submission
Step 4: Offline Application Submission
- Take printout of complete apprentice profile form from the portal
- Print two copies of hall ticket (provided format) and paste recent passport-sized colored photo
- Fill personal details in capital letters using ball point pen
- Collect all required documents with check-off list (Annexure-II)
- Submit in an envelope (write trade name on cover) along with:
- Printout of complete apprentice profile
- Two original filled hall tickets with photos
- All supporting documents (as per check-off list)
- Self-addressed empty envelope with Rs. 55/- postal stamp (for Speed Post delivery of hall ticket)

Important Instructions for Applicants
- Incomplete Applications: Incomplete applications will not be registered
- Caste Certificates: Applications without valid community certificates will be considered for unreserved category
- Anti-Fraud Notice: No money is required to be paid to anyone for this enrollment. Do not fall prey to touts or agents
- Complaint Mechanism: Report any touts/agents demanding money to: encndv-das@navy.gov.in with relevant proof
- Disqualification: Any canvassing (direct/indirect) by applicant will lead to disqualification
- Examination Hall Rules: No cell phones, smart watches, or gadgets permitted at exam venue
- Jurisdiction: Any dispute will be under legal jurisdiction of Visakhapatnam
- Suppression of Facts: Will lead to disqualification at any stage of selection
- Technical Rejection: DAS (Vzg) reserves right to reject applications due to technical reasons/incomplete data
- Police Verification: Candidates must produce Police Verification Certificate during joining; failure will result in candidature rejection
Selection Process Rules
- Hostel Facility: Limited accommodation available for non-local male apprentices on first-come-first-service basis. Mess expenses to be paid by apprentices. Government provides furniture, accommodation, electricity, water charges, mess servants (no laundry)
- Clothing: Apprentices receive 2 uniform sets, black safety shoes, socks, workshop overalls, sports shoes, helmet free of cost. Other items are on payment basis
- Medical Treatment: Free treatment at Dockyard Dispensary and Service Hospital during training
- Textbooks: Supplied on loan basis; losses to be recovered from apprentice
- Discipline: Strict discipline required as per Apprentices School and Navy regulations
- Labor Union: Forbidden to join labor unions or participate in trade union activities
- Employment: No mandatory employment after apprenticeship completion as per Apprentices Act 2014
