Salary Details
- Stenographer Grade ‘C’: Pay Level-6 (Rs 35,400 – 1,12,400) + allowances as per Central Govt norms.
- Stenographer Grade ‘D’: Pay Level-4 (Rs 25,500 – 81,100) + allowances as per Central Govt norms.
Educational Qualification
- Essential (as on 01.08.2025):
Must have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

Selection Process
- Computer Based Examination (CBT):
- Paper Sections:
- General Intelligence & Reasoning – 50 Qs (50 marks)
- General Awareness – 50 Qs (50 marks)
- English Language & Comprehension – 100 Qs (100 marks)
- Duration: 2 hours (2 hours 40 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates)
- Negative Marking: 0.25 per wrong answer
- Paper Sections:
- Skill Test in Stenography:
- Grade ‘C’: Dictation 100 wpm (10 min), transcription: English (40 min); Hindi (55 min)
- Grade ‘D’: Dictation 80 wpm (10 min), transcription: English (50 min); Hindi (65 min)
- Skill Test is qualifying; merit as per CBT scores and post preferences.
How to Apply
- Register once (OTR) on https://ssc.gov.in or SSC Mobile App.
- Fill the application form for “Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination, 2025.”
- Upload photograph (captured live via webcam/camera as per instructions) and signature.
- Upload certificate of disability, if applicable, for PwBD candidates.
- Opt for exam centers (3 preference order).
- Submit the application and pay the fee (online*).
- Fee: ₹100/- (Women, SC/ST, PwBD, & ESM: Nil)
- Payment by: 27.06.2025 (23:00 hours)
- Double check all fields before final submit.
- Take a printout for your record.
Instructions
- Read the detailed notification and ensure eligibility as on cut-off date.
- Apply only through SSC’s new website or approved Mobile App.
- Provide correct reservation/category details and relevant certificates.
- Correction window: 01.07.2025 to 02.07.2025 (fee applicable, ₹200-₹500 per correction)
- Only one online application allowed; duplicate/multiple applications will be rejected.
- Admit Card will be downloadable from the SSC website about 2-3 days before the exam.
- Women and persons of all backgrounds encouraged to apply (government strives for gender balance).

Computer Based Exam Syllabus:
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: Verbal/non-verbal reasoning, analogies, differences, space visualization, judgment, series, etc.
- General Awareness: Current events, India/neighboring countries, sports, history, polity, economy, geography, science.
- English Language & Comprehension: Grammar, vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms, comprehension, usage, sentence structure.
