Salary Details
- Stipend during OTA training: ₹56,100 per month
- Pay post-commissioning:
- Lieutenant (on commission): Level 10 – ₹56,100–1,77,500 + MSP ₹15,500/month + allowances
- Approx CTC on commissioning: ₹17–18 lakh per annum (plus free medical & annual travel home)
- Promotions: As per Army rules; see full table under “Salary” below
- Other allowances: DA, Para/Project/Special Forces/Technical allowances, Dress Allowance, free ration in kind, transport and field benefits as per posting
Educational Qualification
- Essential: Minimum 55% aggregate marks in LLB (3-year after graduation OR 5-year after 10+2) from a college/university recognized by Bar Council of India.
- CLAT PG 2025: Must have appeared for CLAT PG 2025; CLAT PG score mandatory (including for LLM-holders/appearing).
- Registration: Eligible for registration as advocate with Bar Council of India/State.
Age Limit (as on 01 Jan 2026)
- Minimum: 21 years (Born on/after 02 Jan 1999)
- Maximum: 27 years (Born on/before 01 Jan 2005)
Both dates inclusive. Date of birth as per Matriculation/SSLC certificate only will be accepted.
Selection Process
- Shortlisting (based on CLAT PG 2025 score; minimum LLB marks)
- SSB Interview (5 days, at SSB Centres in Nov/Dec 2025 – choice of dates in Nov for 2 weeks)
- Medical Examination
- Final Merit List (SSB marks; age & marks as tiebreakers)
- Pre-Commission Training (OTA, Chennai: 49 weeks from Apr 2026)
- Joining Letter (on merit/medical completion)
How to Apply

- Registration → Officer Entry → Apply Online for JAG Entry
- Fill all segments: personal, contact, education (LLB, CLAT PG), prior SSB, etc.
- Review all details and “Submit”; download/print two copies after final closure.
- Upload all required documents (originals to be brought at SSB)
- Only one application per candidate is permitted.
Documents to carry at SSB:
- Printout of application with photo, Matriculation/SSLC, 12th, Graduation, LLB degrees, all mark sheets, Bar Council registration eligibility or college certification, CLAT PG 2025 result, certificate for CGPA conversion, any reservation proof if claimed.
Instructions
- Only those who obtain LLB degree and marksheet may apply.
- Multiple/Incorrect applications will be rejected.
- No changes allowed post submission. Check all fields before submitting.
- SSB call letters only via e-mail/SMS (Selection Centre allocation, etc).
- Training cost if withdrawn for personal reasons: ₹18,965 per week.
- Candidates cannot marry before or during OTA training.
- Ensure completion of CLAT PG 2025 and LLB at document verification.
- Candidates in Defence service: must inform Commanding Officer.
Training
- 49 weeks at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai
- Awarded ‘PG Diploma in Defence Management & Strategic Studies’ on passing
- Married candidates not allowed; no living with parents during training
- Must pass physical standards (see notification for details: 2.4 km run, sit-ups, push-ups, swimming, etc.)

Bond & Release
- Short Service Commission: 14 yrs (10+4); option to exit after 5 or 10 years, or opt for Permanent Commission at 10th year.
- Probation: 6 months from receiving commission.
- Reserve Liability after Exit: up to 40 years of age (Men); must serve 5 yrs + 2 yrs voluntary, if released before full service.
