Summary
District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Puducherry invites applications from eligible retired Government officials for engagement as Consultants (Assistant Engineer/Junior Engineer – Civil) on a full-time contractual basis under PMGSY, SBM(G) and MPLADS schemes. The initial tenure is 6 months, extendable based on requirement. Remuneration will be fixed as per Finance Department norms by deducting basic pension from last pay drawn. Salary Details
- Remuneration fixed as: Last Pay Drawn minus Basic Pension (including commuted portion counted in basic pension for deduction).
- No annual increment/percentage increase during contract period.
- TA/DA on official tour admissible as per entitlement of equivalent Government counterpart.
Example (from notification):
- If Last Pay was Rs. 1,55,900 (Level 13) and Basic Pension Rs. 77,950, remuneration = Rs. 77,950 per month.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
Experience Requirements
- Retired Assistant Engineer (Civil)/Assistant Engineer on CDC (Civil) OR Junior Engineer (Civil) from Central/State/UT Government/PSU/Autonomous Bodies.
- Must have served at Pay Level-7 or above at retirement (for detailed terms section).
- Experience in:
- Preparation of Estimates, DPRs, Tender Documents for civil projects.
- Handling e-Tender procedures.
- Execution and supervision of all kinds of civil works/projects.
- Knowledge of Government rules, regulations, and statutory provisions for civil works.
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 65 years (not above 65 years as per guidelines on engagement of retired Govt. officials).
Selection Process
- Shortlisting based on eligibility and documentation.
- Final engagement on contractual basis; agreement execution mandatory.
- DRDA reserves the right to accept/reject applications and modify/cancel recruitment at any stage.

- Income Tax and other applicable taxes will be deducted at source.
- Terms governed by Finance Department ID Note/Memo No. 46324/FD/F3/2014 dated 11.09.2014 and 01.12.2022; in case of discrepancy, Finance Department instructions prevail.
- On selection, candidates must execute an agreement in the prescribed proforma.
- DRDA reserves the right to review/terminate contracts and change terms/conditions.
